Recap: Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers vs. Deer Trail Eagles

The Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers lost against the Deer Trail Eagles back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Cripple Creek-Victor took a 32-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deer Trail. Cripple Creek-Victor has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Allyson Durham, who scored 8 points. Durham scored a full 38.1% of Cripple Creek-Victor's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ruby Estes, who scored 5 points.

Deer Trail got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ally Hardwick out in front who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Hardwick is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Donovan, who scored 7 points along with 13 rebounds and 7 blocks.

Cripple Creek-Victor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Deer Trail, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Cripple Creek-Victor will head out on the road to face off against Cotopaxi at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Cotopaxi presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cripple Creek-Victor in Colorado (Cotopaxi is ranked 69th, while Cripple Creek-Victor is ranked 235th). As for Deer Trail, they will be playing at home against Hanover at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
