Softball Recap: Holgate Tigers vs. Hilltop Cadets
Holgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 23-0 walloping at the hands of the Hilltop Cadets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Holgate of the 9-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Hilltop's part, Kelsy Connolly was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Connolly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Connolly was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Joscelyn Layman was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with a home run, five runs, and six RBI. Shealyn Brown was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five runs, and three RBI.
