Basketball Game Preview: Punahou Buff n' Blue vs. Ayala Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Punahou Buff n' Blue will jump right back in to play the Ayala Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Punahou knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Ayala likes a good challenge.

Punahou is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Molokai for the full four quarters, racking up an 83-20 win. The Buff n' Blue have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ayala beat Hanalani 56-51 on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 258th in California, while the Royals are ranked 38th in Hawaii).

Punahou pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Ayala, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
