Basketball Recap: Leakey Comes Up Short

Leakey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 35th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the D'Hanis Cowboys, falling 66-23. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.

D'Hanis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ruger Cote out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. What's more, Cote also posted a 64% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brent Frosch, who posted nine points along with seven steals and six assists.

Leakey's loss dropped their record down to 0-22. As for D'Hanis, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Leakey will square off against Utopia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Utopia will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Leakey surely won't give up without a fight. As for D'Hanis, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-32 win against Nueces Canyon on the 10th.
