Recap: School Without Walls Penguins vs. McKinley Tech Trainers
On Wednesday, the School Without Walls Penguins faced the McKinley Tech Trainers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. School Without Walls was outmatched by McKinley Tech on the road and fell 70-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for School Without Walls in their matchups with McKinley Tech: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, School Without Walls still got an impressive performance from Chidiire Nwokwu, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nwokwu has scored all season. Paul Joire was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
McKinley Tech got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ricardo Zeno out in front who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Williams, who scored 11 points.
School Without Walls has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for McKinley Tech, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School Without Walls will take on Banneker at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked 15th, while School Without Walls is ranked 19th). As for McKinley Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Dunbar is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
