Volleyball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wheatland-Grinnell can now relate to. They fell just short of the Victoria Knights by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Thunderhawks' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Wheatland-Grinnell actually scored more points across those three sets (73-72), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 28-26.

Jayden Wood paced Wheatland-Grinnell's offense, picking up 12 kills. Wood got some help from Evangeline Godek and her 26 assists. Finally, Wood was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Wheatland-Grinnell's loss dropped their record down to 27-14. As for Victoria, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 33-6.

Wheatland-Grinnell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Victoria, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Hanover on the 31st.
