Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Plattsburg Tigers

The Lexington Minutemen will venture away from home to challenge the Plattsburg Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lexington has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Paul Lutheran hit Lexington with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Minutemen fell 15-10 to the Saints. The Minutemen's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Braxton Emerson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chael Lichte, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Plattsburg started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Maryville. They lost 17-1 to the Spoofhounds on Friday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lexington's record now sits at 6-20. As for Plattsburg, their record is now 14-18.

Lexington suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Plattsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Minutemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
