Basketball Recap: Providence-St. Mel Comes Up Short

Providence-St. Mel and Lycee Francais de Chicago squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Providence-St. Mel had to settle for second. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lycee Francais de Chicago. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.

Jordie Machara was his usual excellent self, on his way to 31 points for Lycee Francais de Chicago. The dominant performance also gave Machara a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (88%). Bonheur Balita was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Providence-St. Mel's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Lycee Francais de Chicago, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.
