Basketball Recap: Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels vs. Loveland Classical Lions
The Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels lost against the Loveland Classical Lions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Golden View Classical Academy had to suffer through a rough 57-24 loss at the hands of the Lions. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Golden View Classical Academy in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
Golden View Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Le, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Le has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Hermanson, who scored no points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Loveland Classical was led to victory by Keira Doan and Alethia Thye. Doan almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals, while Thye scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Thye has scored at least a third of Loveland Classical's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Doan, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Golden View Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Loveland Classical, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Golden View Classical Academy will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (SkyView Academy is ranked 256th, while the Sentinels are ranked 269th). As for Loveland Classical, they will be playing at home against the Beetdiggers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brush is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
