Basketball Recap: Wa'siiva Lewis Key Part of a Team Effort in Cowboys Win

The third road contest was the charm for Camp Verde, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 41-32 win over the Veritas Prep Falcons on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Camp Verde to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wa'Siiva Lewis, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 12 points along with seven assists and seven boards. Lydia Bleak was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Veritas Prep lost, don't look at Cate Schneider. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 boards. Schneider is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Huse, who posted four points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Camp Verde picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-9. As for Veritas Prep, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Fountain Hills the next time they take the court. Veritas Prep will head out to face Fountain Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Camp Verde will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
