Basketball Recap: Center Comes Up Short

Center lost against Sanford back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Center Vikings took a blow against the Sanford Mustangs, falling 53-20. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-9.

Center's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emiliana Valdez, who posted five points, and Ximena Miranda, who earned two points.

Sanford found their leader in sophomore Claire Crowther, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Reynolds, who put up seven points.

Center's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Sanford, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Center wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 37-29 win against Sierra Grande on the 15th. As for Sanford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-38 victory against Del Norte on the 14th.
