Softball Recap: Warren/Stockton Gets the Win

Warren/Stockton won the last time they faced West Carroll and things went their way on Thursday too. The Warhawks walked away with a 5-0 win over the Thunder. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warhawks.

The result came thanks to Madalynn Perry's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Payton Goswick, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Mensendike, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Warren/Stockton's record is now 11-4. As for West Carroll, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Coming up, Warren/Stockton will host Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Warhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Carroll, they will head out on the road to square off against Galena at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
