Softball Recap: Abilene Takes a Loss

Abilene made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hesston, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cowboys/Cowgirls fell just short of the Swathers by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Cowboys/Cowgirls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

KaiLee Crane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Josie Keener was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Charlie Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Abilene's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Hesston, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Abilene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hesston, they will square off against Pratt at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
