Baseball Recap: Overton Takes Down Beckville in a Playoff Battle

Overton extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Beckville. They put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Overton got a massive performance out of Jayden Edwards, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Edwards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Rowe, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Overton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beckville only posted an OBP of .400.

Overton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Beckville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-8.

Overton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
