Richmond Heights skates past Villa Angela-St. Joseph with ease

The Richmond Heights Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 72-39 stomp they got on the road against Villa Angela-St. Joseph. Richmond Heights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elizabeth Dunmire, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds, and Leila Johnson who scored four points along with 12 rebounds. The match was Dunmire's tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Richmond Heights pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Richmond Heights will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mansfield Senior at 6:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they will head out on the road to face off against Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
