Softball Recap: North Augusta Finds Home Field Redemption Against Aiken

North Augusta's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Strom Thurmond on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets never let the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Lia Allen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Allen was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savannah Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lyla Brummond was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

North Augusta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North Augusta now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Aiken, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, North Augusta will square off against Midland Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Aiken, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-4 loss against South Aiken on the 21st.
