Softball Recap: Sprayberry Yellow Jackets vs. Centennial Knights
Sprayberry entered their tilt with Centennial with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Centennial Knights 8-2. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Graci Pederson and Gabbi Leftwich made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pederson pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Leftwich didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Pederson scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Leftwich went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Moody was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Simpson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Sprayberry didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with five strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only tossed two.
Sprayberry's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Centennial, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sprayberry will venture away from home to square off against Walker at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sprayberry's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Walker's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Centennial, they will head out to face off against Cambridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Centennial surely won't give up without a fight.
