Soccer Game Preview: Zion-Benton vs. Libertyville

Zion-Benton hasn't had much luck against Libertyville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Zee-Bees will challenge the Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. Zion-Benton has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Zion-Benton is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to Lake Zurich. That's two games in a row now that Zion-Benton have lost by exactly seven goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Libertyville). They blew past Waukegan 10-1 on Thursday. With Libertyville ahead 10-1 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Their offense was hitting Waukegan from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Danica Meller led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

The win made it two in a row for Libertyville and bumps their season record up to 10-1-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those two matchups. As for Zion-Benton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Zion-Benton suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Libertyville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Zee-Bees avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
