Softball Recap: Golden Valley Grizzlies vs. Hawkins Hawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canyon, Golden Valley was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hawkins Hawks a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Grizzlies have won three games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nia Edwards was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Isabel Camargo was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those hits were her first of the season. Izabella Pauley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.
Golden Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
