Basketball Recap: Unicoi County Takes a Loss

Unicoi County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Milton Panthers. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Unicoi County lost, don't look at Koda Cutlip. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Garrett Sellars, who scored six points.

Even though they lost, Unicoi County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Milton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treymar Jones led the charge by going 5 of 11 en route to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Robinson, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points.

Unicoi County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Milton, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Unicoi County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-57 win against Winter Haven on the 18th. Milton has also already played their next game, a 68-64 loss against Bartow on the 18th.
