Jordan Alston leads Granville Central to victory over Vance County

The Granville Central Panthers posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Vance County as Granville Central made off with a 70-50 win. Given Granville Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Vance County is ranked 464th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jordan Alston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six steals and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cj Alston, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Vance County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamir Sheppard, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sheppard has scored all season. Tyshawn Alston was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.

Vance County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Granville Central racked up 18 assists.

The win makes it two in a row for Granville Central and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for Vance County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
