Baseball Recap: North Star Comes Up Short

North Star extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Southern Fulton Indians. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

North Star saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John-Michael Steltzer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI was Steltzer's first of the season.

As for Southern Fulton, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 11-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season.

On Southern Fulton's side, Brooks Norris made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Norris was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Cam Cain looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Back at the plate, Jett Burger was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joel Fitz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Star will head out to challenge Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southern Fulton, they will square off against Forbes Road at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
