Volleyball Recap: Niles West Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Niles West and Maine South squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Niles West had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Niles West lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 20-25, 27-25, 28-26.

Niles West's loss dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Maine South, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-11 record this season.

Niles West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maine South, they will challenge Hersey at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
