Softball Game Preview: Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings vs. North Linn Lynx

The Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings will head out to challenge the North Linn Lynx at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edgewood-Colesburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so North Linn's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Edgewood-Colesburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Calamus-Wheatland, taking the game 7-3. The Vikings have beaten the Warriors the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, North Linn won against Midland on Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Lynx beat Springville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-1. Considering the Lynx have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win was the third in a row for North Linn, bringing their record up to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Edgewood-Colesburg, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Edgewood-Colesburg was able to grind out a solid victory over North Linn in their previous meeting back in July of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
