Basketball Recap: Boone Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Joan Orta and Connor Summer

If Boone was feeling good fresh off their 68-41 takedown of Astronaut last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boone Braves fell just short of the Lake Mary Rams by a score of 46-44 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Braves have suffered since December 27, 2023.

Despite the defeat, Boone had strong showings from Connor Summer, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points and six boards, and Joan Orta, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. Orta is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tremaine Woods, who posted three points.

Lake Mary got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Houston out in front who earned four points. The dominant performance also gave Houston a new career-high in assists (three). Chase Hinshaw was another key player, putting up nine points.

Boone's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-13. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 42.1% in those games and 29.7% outside of them. As for Lake Mary, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.

Boone wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-58 victory against Colonial on the 31st.
