Baseball Recap: Sunny Hills Gets the Win

Sunny Hills lost to Esperanza back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Lancers came out on top against the Aztecs by a score of 6-3.

Andrew Choi made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Sunny Hills is 2-1 when Choi posts three or more RBI, but 3-18 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Oliver Botch looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Mateo Ramirez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Sunny Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-19 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Katayama, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs.

Sunny Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Sunny Hills' win bumped their record up to 5-19. As for Esperanza, they dropped their record down to 9-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Sunny Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Aztecs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
