Baseball Recap: Southern Fulton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southern Fulton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Northern Bedford County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. Southern Fulton put the hurt on Northern Bedford County with a sharp 11-1 victory on Saturday. The Indians' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Owen Oakman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joel Fitz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Fitz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Jett Burger was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Southern Fulton's record now sits at 3-0. As for Northern Bedford County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Southern Fulton will challenge Everett at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Bedford County, they will square off against Mount Union at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
