Softball Recap: Warwick Drops Highest Score of Season Against Phoebus

Warwick took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Phoebus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders skirted past the Phantoms 21-19. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nataleigh Gabriel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Jamiyah Fitzgerald was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Miya'E Holloman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Warwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoebus only managed six hits.

Warwick has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Phoebus, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Warwick will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Phantoms: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
