Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds

The Harrison Central Red Rebels will take on the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Harrison Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Harrison Central turned things around against D'Iberville on Thursday. They managed a 54-50 victory over the Warriors. The win was all the more spectacular given the Red Rebels' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Warriors are ranked 32nd).

Harrison Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaun Murray out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Murray has posted since back in December of 2024. Jasen Pace was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Harrison Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ocean Springs came up short against Gulfport on Friday, falling 60-36. The Greyhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ocean Springs now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Harrison Central, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 9-17.

Harrison Central couldn't quite finish off Ocean Springs when the teams last played on Monday and fell 52-50. Can Harrison Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
