Softball Recap: Berkeley's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Berkeley came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Los Banos Tigers on Thursday.

Mia Kaufman and Ayshia Bell Vorkoeper did most of the damage at the plate: Kaufman went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bell Vorkoeper went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Kaufman a new career-high. Riley Pritchard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Berkeley's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Los Banos, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkeley will challenge Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Los Banos, they will face off against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
