Basketball Recap: Reading Comes Up Short

Reading was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Quincy Orioles 71-24. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Rangers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Reading's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Bassage, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Wright, who scored 11 points and six boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quincy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dunn a new career-high in boards. Brandon Miner was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points.

Reading's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Quincy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-8 record.

Reading is taking a road trip to challenge Pittsford at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsford will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Reading surely won't give up without a fight. Quincy has already played their next matchup, a 59-9 win against Athens on the 3rd.
