Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shea). They put the hurt on the Mt. Pleasant Kilties with a sharp 23-2 victory on Tuesday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Kilties recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Clara Perez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Perez was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on D'Laziah Hayes, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Melany Lopes, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Shea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Shea's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Mt. Pleasant, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
Coming up, Shea will head out on the road to take on Times Squared Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will challenge Central Falls at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Kilties will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
