Softball Recap: Mooresville Comes Up Short

Mooresville fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Plainfield on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Quakers by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Pioneers in their meetings with the Quakers: they've now lost three in a row.

Reagan Bauer spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mooresville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Culp, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Mooresville's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Plainfield, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-1.

Coming up, Mooresville will square off against Center Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Plainfield, they will face off against Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
