Preview: Newton Falls vs. Rootstown
Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Newton Falls should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Rootstown at 7:00 PM. Each team will be battling to keep their 3-game winning streak alive.
Newton Falls were able to grind out a solid victory over Mineral Ridge last week, winning 28-15. Junior Mitchell Harley and junior Ivan Howard were among the main playmakers for Newton Falls as the former rushed for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns and the latter passed for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 11 tackles Harley was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Rootstown had a bit more than a touchdown to spare in a 22-13 win over East Canton.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-0. We'll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Newton Falls and Rootstown clash.
