Volleyball Recap: Cherokee's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Cherokee was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Union County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chiefs fell 3-1 to the Washburn Pirates on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-0 defeat back in August.

Cherokee actually scored more points across those four sets (92-85), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 9-25, 26-24.

With the defeat, Cherokee broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4. As for Washburn, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Cherokee and Washburn should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Chiefs (ranked 107th) will meet Claiborne (ranked 251st) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Washburn will face off against Cosby at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (127 vs. 316).
