Baseball Recap: Holy Name Victorious

Gilmour Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Holy Name proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Lancers 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Green Wave, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Holy Name got a great performance from Harrison Frank as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Frank a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Holy Name saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Nemeth, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Nemeth has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brendon Preisel was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

The win snapped Holy Name's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-10 record. As for Gilmour Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Coming up, Holy Name will challenge Orange at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Gilmour Academy, they will face off against St. Edward at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
