Football Recap: Alyssa Maldonado Leads Centennial's Defense on Saturday

24 must be Centennial's lucky number: they beat Corona del Mar with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Huskies didn't even let the Sea Kings on the board, marking the Huskies' second-straight 24-0 shutout. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 41-6 victory the Sea Kings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.

Centennial didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Alyssa Maldonado led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. Brystal Albright is also on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Centennial got some further help from Taliyah Miller: she picked up four sacks and made six total tackles.

The win got Centennial back to even at 9-9. As for Corona del Mar, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 28-21 defeat against Corona on the 15th. As for Corona del Mar, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-7 loss against Edison on the 15th.
