Preview: Leadore Mustangs vs. Sho-Ban Chiefs
Leadore and Sho-Ban are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Leadore Mustangs will be playing at home against the Sho-Ban Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Leadore faced Clark County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Leadore claimed a resounding 57-24 victory over Clark County on the road.
Leadore found their leader in underclassman Dane Piippo, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Piippo has scored at least 25% of Leadore's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Herbst, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Sho-Ban gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Grace Lutheran out 53-51.
The losses dropped Leadore to 1-2 and Clark County to 0-3.
Leadore came out on top in a nail-biter against Sho-Ban in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 47-45. Will Leadore repeat their success, or does Sho-Ban have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
