Basketball Recap: Oakley Plainsmen vs. Hill City Ringnecks

After flying high against Wheatland-Grinnell last Tuesday, Oakley came back down to earth. The Oakley Plainsmen took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hill City Ringnecks on Friday. The contest marked the Plainsmen's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Plainsmen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Manuel Mancia, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Mason Jackson, who put up seven points and seven rebounds.

Carson Keith was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and five steals for Hill City. Keith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Koby Keiswetter, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points.

Oakley's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hill City, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Oakley will head out to face off against Russell at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Hill City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Phillipsburg. Hill City is facing Phillipsburg at the right time seeing as Phillipsburg is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
