Volleyball Recap: Garfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Garfield came into Friday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Ridgefield Memorial Royals on Friday. The Boilermakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Royals, too.

Garfield not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Ridgefield Memorial between 19 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-21.

Mariana Pati?o paced Garfield's offense, picking up ten kills. Pati?o got some help from Desislava Uzunova and her 14 assists. Finally, Kimora Henry kept Garfield's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Garfield's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Ridgefield Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Garfield will be playing at home against Fort Lee at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Ridgefield Memorial, they will square off against St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
