Softball Game Preview: Bellaire Cardinals vs. Cypress Creek Cougars

The Bellaire Cardinals will square off against the Cypress Creek Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Creek took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellaire, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Bellaire made easy work of Lamar and carried off a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jersey Village hit Cypress Creek with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell 7-3 to the Falcons.

Tullia Lane was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Bellaire has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15-1 record this season.

Bellaire took their victory against Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
