Recap: Liberal Redskins vs. Garden City Buffaloes
The Liberal Redskins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Garden City. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberal in their matchups with Garden City: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Liberal still got an impressive performance from Zayden Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. J. Brooks Kappelmann was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Liberal's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Garden City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
Liberal will be playing at home against Hays at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberal is coming into the contest with six straight losses at home, meaning Hays will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Garden City, they will head out on the road to challenge Great Bend at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
