Lyons gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Liberty Common Eagles with a sharp 9-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Zack LaCrosse and Jake LaCrosse were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, LaCrosse struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Jake tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, LaCrosse scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jake scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Jake has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Fitzgerald, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Calvin Russell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
