Recap: Westwood Panthers vs. Teague Lions

The Westwood Panthers lost against the Teague Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Westwood received a tough blow as they fell 60-43 to Teague. While losing is never fun, Westwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1062nd, while Teague is ranked 246th).

Jolee Haley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Teague, scoring 29 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Bethanah Owens, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.

Westwood bumped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Teague, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Westwood will be home for the holidays to greet Mexia at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mexia is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Teague will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Buffalo is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
