After both having extra time off, the Thomas A. Edison Owls and the Tacony Academy Charter Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Thomas A. Edison has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Tacony Academy Charter will arrive with four straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Thomas A. Edison didn't have quite enough to beat Prep Charter and fell 10-9.
Marisol Valencia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Nylah Borges, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.
Meanwhile, while Tacony Academy Charter put up plenty of runs last Tuesday, the same can't be said for Penn Treaty. The Lions blew past the Wolves 11-0. The match marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season so far.
The team relied heavily on Aniya Askins-Pinkney, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Aubryella Thomas was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tacony Academy Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Tacony Academy Charter's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Thomas A. Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Thomas A. Edison has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Tacony Academy Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thomas A. Edison suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Tacony Academy Charter in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
