Football Recap: Sullivan East Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Sullivan East had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 26-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnson County Longhorns. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Sullivan East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Peyton Lingerfelt, who threw for 331 yards and two TDs while picking up 14.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score. Sullivan East's leading receiver Blue Proffitt was Lingerfelt's top target yet again, picking up 188 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Johnson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johnathan Lisi led the charge by rushing for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. What's more, Lisi racked up 31 passing yards, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Brayden Dickens was another key back, rushing for 133 yards and one TD on only 14 carries.

Looking ahead, Sullivan East will welcome Chuckey-Doak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnson County, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
