Baseball Recap: Munford Gets the Win

Munford proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 13) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dyer County Choctaws, sneaking past 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Curly Lowry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jaxzen Scheidt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Munford pushed their record up to 15-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dyer County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munford will square off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dyer County, they will venture away from home to challenge Briarcrest Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Choctaws' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
