Wylie (Abilene, Texas) won its final 21 games of the season, including all 11 playoff games, to finish as the No. 1 team in the MaxPreps medium school national baseball rankings.
Wylie edged out Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) for the top spot. Wylie was ranked No. 2 in the MaxPreps National Computer Rankings, while the Mavericks were ranked No. 4.
The Bulldogs won their second straight Class 4A state title in Texas and finished the year 35-1 overall.
The medium school rankings are based on the MaxPreps computer rankings. The teams are listed with their overall record and their computer rating. Medium schools are considered those that compete in enrollment divisions that contain schools that generally have between 1,000 and 2,000 students.
