Soccer Recap: Florida Christian Takes a Loss

Florida Christian managed to keep up with Mater Lakes Academy until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Florida Christian Patriots came up short against the Mater Lakes Academy Bears, falling 7-1. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Bears are ranked 176th).

Florida Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season. As for Mater Lakes Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florida Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monsignor Pace at 3:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Mater Lakes Academy will take on Somerset Academy - Canyons in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. One thing working in Mater Lakes Academy's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last five matchups.
