MaxPreps Top 100 Recruits on Twitter: Who has the most followers?

Just as many NFL and college football stars have accrued many followers on Twitter, so too have the nation's top high school players. A huge following on the social network isn't just for the pros anymore.

Nine of the nation's Top 10 recruits have Twitter accounts, and several of them are active tweeters.

In total, 46 of the nation's Top 100 players have Twitter accounts, while several others have had them but have since deleted them.

Social patterns that ring true outside high school football also pertain to top recruits on Twitter, as recruits who tweet consistently, engage with others and share compelling information (usually about their own recruitment) possess the most followers. Highly sought-after recruits who rarely tweet or don't engage with fans, despite their popularity in recruiting circles, have fewer followers.

Dorial Green-Beckham, the nation's No. 1 recruit, also has the most followers. However, Keith Marshall, the No. 20 recruit, is right behind him. Marshall tweeted thoughts about his recruitment process and gained a huge following even before he committed to Georgia.

Similarly, the nation's top quarterback and No. 2 overall recruit Gunner Kiel, who seldomly tweets, has roughly half the followers of Clemson-bound quarterback Chad Kelly, the nation's No. 98 recruit. Kelly, who joined Twitter in October, tweets regularly.
